Some industrial processes have the potential to affect worker lung function, either temporarily or permanently. Spirometry, or the measure of this lung function, makes it possible to identify low or declining pulmonary ability, and if an individual’s results are of concern, efforts can be made to determine the cause. Should it appear that occupational factors are implicated, steps can then be taken to control or eliminate further exposure.
Similarly, by testing hearing function, it is possible to not only detect whether hearing has been impaired, but also to determine whether hearing ability is changing over time. If there is a pattern of decline, a noise survey can be employed to determine if there are occupational issues that need to be addressed.
Both our Belmont and Mandurah offices are open for Workcover WA compliant spirometry and audiometric testing seven days a week, and our fully mobile service can be performed at any location including metro, regional, remote, interstate and offshore sites. Services can cover both day and night shifts to suit our clients’ rosters.
